Plimus/BlueSnap review2016
Clarification
Why BlueSnap and not Plimus?
Plimus (founded 2001) was recently involved in marketing scams and they had to change their name in BlueSnap
Pros:
- The most comprehensive set of features
- Supports lots of currencies
Cons:
- Lots of fees
- High fees (compared with PayPal for example)
- Terribly slow support
- Careless support - They don't really read your email to understand your problem. Any problem you have won't be fixed in less than 1-2 weeks (if ever fixed)
- API still under construction
- BlueSnap forces you to provides 30 days money back no questions asked. Any customer can purchase the product and ask for a refund in the next 2-3 minutes, because they can!
- Mistakes in their balance reports. They send a balance to us that had over $1200 missing!
- They will sometimes without any prior warning refund some payments, "in order prevent imminent charge backs" they say.
- They don't inform you when a customer makes a charge back so you will continue to support that customer. You have to log in and dig the reports monthly to spot chargebacks.
- They are on your customer's side when they apply for a refund. This is because BlueSnap aquired a bad reputation and now they try to clean it. So, they will help the customer not the vendor.
- BlueSnap can lock down your funds for 3 months at their sole discretion: "In such instances BlueSnap, in its sole discretion, may impose a 3-month payment cycle in order to properly assess and investigate refund"
- BlueSnap has a complex, 20 pages (over 11000 words) EULA!
- False advertisement: On this page (also see image below) they advertise "You deserve more. Exceptional value at a great price. Rates as low as 2.9% + 30¢" to make you open an account with them. However, as you can see in the "standard resale rates" there is no such thing. Lowest rate is 4.5% for products over $280!
- In 2012 Plimus was involved in marketing scams

The fees charged by Plimus/BlueSnap:
- WireTransfer fee: $25
- Monthly account maintenance fee: $75!
- Dormant account fee: $25 first year then $50
- Manual PO processing fee: $25 from vendor (fee increased recently from $15) (amount needs confirmation, couldn't find it on Plimus web site yet)
- Manual processing fee: $8 from customer when the customer orders via PO, fax, phone
- Charge back penalty: $15 or more (if your charge back rate is 1%). Plus, your funds may be locked for several months! YES, I was not able to withdraw funds when I had a chargeback.
- Early funds withdrawal: $5
- Resale fee (as shown in the table below)

Note: The table does not appear if you do a Google search like "Plimus fees and charges". They took care to fide it. I had to dig for it:
Update 2016:
it seems Plimus/BlueSnap got banned by most banks. In the last few days my customors trying to order via Credit Card get their order rejected. Their banks refuse to send payments to BlueSnap! BlueSnap will answer all emails related tho this issues with the same copy/paste email:
Hello,
Please be advised our records show your bank is declining our attempts to charge the card.
In cases such as this, we suggest the shopper(s) contact their bank, ask why the charges are being declined, then ask their bank to flag future orders from BlueSnap as OK. Subsequent transactions usually will be approved, following the shopper taking these steps.
We apologize for any inconvenience.
